Here are some of my rants from what I observed of running a meme page for 3 and a half years on instagram. There will be more in the Future
1. One of the things I see people doing wrong is putting up like 15-20 memes up on their story.. Thats a lot tbh.. It's a different thing with the feed - because they only get one meme at time, you are competing with other things on their feed.., if you're starting out, you won't be having that much of ig reach.. So that's why it's better to post more memes than just 1 at a time if you're a small or medium meme page. The reality is, most of your followers aren't seeing your memes, no matter how good they might be - so if you're going the feed route - more is better if you're trying to grow. If you're only putting on story - make sure to save them to highlights - so you have some content on your profile for later.
2. What I've recently observed is ig bans you for any repeated action (it thinks you're a bot, It doesn't like bots).. I was kindof banned myself last December for a week (it thought i was a bot or something).. So be careful or repeated actions (like liking too many pics at once or commenting too much at once, sliding into too many dms at once - cause that's what people who use bots or other services use - and most of them are getting banned. What can happen is - your account can get shadowbanned (google it-like totally minimizes your reach and blocks certain actions). One of my bro-Science method (no scientific - I just heard it somewhere) if you're shadowbanned is to set your account private for some time and go back public again (worth a try).
3. Tbh, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you don't like sfs and stuff, don't do it. If going to other pages and liking stuff feels like a chore- you don't have to do it. You don't have to watch all the stories and comment. You don't even have to post every single day or something. It's okay to not be perfect and beat yourself up for it. Good enough is good enough.
4. If you're selling something - send them to the offer to buy it, or any action.. Tbh nobody gives a fuck until they know how it helps them or how you're adding value (which you should be doing. The other thing is you can sell one thing at a time - either it be swipe up or click on link or whatever.. - asking to do so many things at once confuses people.
5. I kindof had the problem where my humour irl(outside friend circle) was funny but highly offensive(too edgy or niche) or dark...,tbh it's a bit niche and most people don't get the reference (in case of memes) or are not really that comfortable with you yet (sexual jokes)-and they might not work everytime. Trust me, I've tried to make it work a lot. For Clean humour, try watching this show called Seinfield , the humour is very clean, it's kindof day to day stuff and banter. He's a Comedian in real life too so his timing and stuff is spot on. It's on Amazon prime I guess. The hard part about is you can't really remember it all. Most of the comedians have their own notes and swipe files(my meme page is kindof one of my swipe file) - but you might not have to go that extreme - notes and stuff will do too. Eventually you'll have some funny stuff to say in a lot of situations and your timing and stuff will also improve over time.
6. Tip of the day : have 2 meme pages so you can shitpost at twice the capacity.
End of rant.
