Got a bigger job? The full Notepad runs the same engine on lists of any size — chain this with dedupe, sort and filter, undo any step, and save the whole routine as a recipe for next time.

How it works What the URL Normalizer does

Makes URLs consistent so duplicates can be found: lowercases the domain, adds or removes www, forces https, collapses double slashes and optionally lowercases the path.

Gives a messy list of URLs one consistent format: adds https:// where the scheme is missing or http, lowercases the host, adds or removes www. as you choose, and collapses doubled slashes in the path. Lowercasing the path is optional because paths can be case-sensitive.

Normalising first is what makes Remove Duplicates and list comparisons work on URLs from different sources.

3 steps How to use the URL Normalizer

  1. Paste your list into the box above — one item per line. Keyword exports, crawl exports and spreadsheet columns all work.
  2. Check the settings and adjust them to your job — the result updates as you type.
  3. Copy the result and paste it wherever it needs to go. Nothing is uploaded, so client and confidential data stay on your machine.

Use it to When to use the URL Normalizer

  • Make crawler, analytics and sitemap URLs comparable before a gap analysis
  • Clean a hand-typed list of URLs before building redirects
  • Deduplicate a backlink list where the same page appears in several forms

FAQ URL Normalizer questions

Is Normalise URLs free to use?

Yes. Normalise URLs runs entirely in your browser, on this page and in the full Notepad, with no sign-up, no limits, and nothing sent to a server.

Does it follow redirects or check URLs?

No, it only rewrites the text. Nothing is fetched.

Should I lowercase paths?

Only if your server treats paths case-insensitively. Otherwise /Blog/ and /blog/ can be different pages.
