Keyword List Cleaner

Keyword exports arrive full of stray spaces, blank rows, mixed capitals and duplicates — and every one of them skews your counts. Paste the list: the usual fixes are ticked below in the right order, and each shows how many lines it will change before you apply it.

Fixes to apply, in this order

Each fix becomes a step above your list — remove any one to undo just that fix.

Only fill in the settings your operation uses.

How to use the Keyword List Cleaner

  1. Paste your list, drop a .txt or .csv file on the editor, or press Upload.
  2. Untick any fix you don’t want. The number beside each one is how many lines it would change right now.
  3. Press Apply. Each fix becomes a step above the editor, so you can remove any one of them and the list is recalculated without it.

What each option does

Invisible Character Remover

Deletes zero-width spaces, byte-order marks, soft hyphens and control characters you can’t see — the usual reason two identical-looking lines don’t count as duplicates.

Remove Bullet Points & Numbering

Removes bullets and numbering from the start of lines — “1.”, “2)”, “-”, “•”, “*”, “a)”, “[ ]” — left over from copying lists out of documents, emails or slides.

Smart Quotes to Straight Quotes

Turns curly quotes into straight ones, en/em dashes into hyphens, “…” into three dots and unusual spaces (non-breaking, thin) into normal spaces — so lines copied from Word or a CMS match t…

Remove Empty Lines & Trim Spaces

Strips leading and trailing spaces from every line and deletes any line that ends up empty. This is the single most useful starting operation for any raw keyword list, URL export, or copy-p…

Remove Extra Spaces

Collapses multiple internal spaces into one and trims the edges — fixes the messy spacing that comes from copy-pasting out of spreadsheets or PDFs.

Lowercase Converter

Converts every character in every line to lower case.

Remove Duplicate Lines

Keeps only the first occurrence of each line using a character-perfect match — "Buy Shoes" and "buy shoes" are treated as two different lines and both are kept.

Near-Duplicate Keyword Remover

Removes lines that differ from an earlier one only by capitals, punctuation, plural vs singular, or word order — “running shoe”, “Running Shoes!” and “shoes running” become one. Keeps the f…

Remove Punctuation from Text

Removes commas, brackets, quotation marks and other punctuation, leaving only words and numbers.

Remove Number-Only Lines

Removes any line whose entire content is numeric — prices, IDs, years — while leaving lines with mixed text and numbers untouched.

Stop Word Remover

Strips more than 80 common English stop words (the, a, in, of…), leaving only the words that carry real meaning.

Sort Lines Alphabetically

Sorts every line alphabetically from A to Z.

Questions

Why lowercase before removing duplicates?

So that “Running Shoes” and “running shoes” count as the same keyword. If capitals matter to you, untick Lowercase — duplicates are then matched exactly.

Does cleaning change the order of my keywords?

No. Every fix keeps the original order except Sort A → Z, which is unticked by default.

Is my keyword list uploaded anywhere?

No. The cleaning runs in your browser; the list never leaves your device.
