Deletes zero-width spaces, byte-order marks, soft hyphens and control characters you can’t see — the usual reason two identical-looking lines don’t count as duplicates.
Some characters take up no space on screen: zero-width spaces, zero-width joiners, byte-order marks and soft hyphens. Stray control characters are removed too.
